Time to put what you take for granted first – you.
We all do it- forget that it’s our bodies that allow us to climb the subway steps, walk 30 blocks, carry heavy grocery bags up to our 5th floor walk up.
We forget about that it’s our body that allows us to do all of that. Until it doesn’t.
Aging is a fact, but Pilates let’s you optimize your body’s potential.
At FORM we help you…be your best self. Have the best body to live a magnificent life.
Clients of FORM experience the benefits of authentic Pilates: improved posture, a flexible spine and body, a pain free life, and a continued commitment to their workouts.
Collectively we have over 30 years of teaching experience and hold 8 certifications.
Our clients are the most loyal converts ever. Once they take a session with us they are hooked for life. They enjoy the pleasure of always learning more and understanding the method deeper and deeper. At FORM we help make wellness a priority in their busy lives, by creating a relaxing, pressure free environment for them to practice in. Plus we laugh. Everything is better when you can smile.
I love how the teachers at FORM are able to tailor their teaching methods client by client… it’s a fun mix – we work hard, but have fun, I always leave with a sense of satisfaction and new goals!
I grew up a skinny minnie (my nickname in school was chicken legs), and while today anorexic chic is en vogue- my adolescent self just wanted to fit in. I hid myself with long pants and skirts while chiding myself for being gangly and string-bean-ish. My adult self had equally disturbing woes of a different type. While the legs stayed the same- the rest of me especially my middle puffed and swelled and I got the “fat” label for the first time in my life. Was I skinny, fat, or even worse…skinny fat???
Exhausted from years of trying to fit in, today I take control, or rather less control: responsibility. Instead of depriving myself and counting calories like a mathematician, I have decided to just buy larger sized Lululemon and eat what I have a hankering for (within moderation, of course). I like good food. I like feeling good.
In my work as a Pilates instructor, I am no stranger to the fact that this is an epidemic, and much more widespread than just me. For years I have stood idly by, almost embarrassed by my clients as they mouth off about how they hate this part of themselves and won’t I give them an exercise to make it all go away? It resonated the truth: all women care about, or should I say are obsessed about, is becoming, staying, and being skinny. It’s a cleverly disguised way to be hateful to oneself, and it’s a hell of a lot of work.
Now, I follow my bliss in life, fitness, and food. Part of my joy is sharing and teaching others how to do the same. Not in an esoteric, holier-than-thou way, but step by step hand in hand. I can help you focus on what feels good (and good FOR you!), leaving the rest out. Working out what makes you FEEL better and that’s a good thing. Letting food be fuel for climbing stairs, dancing naked in your living room, and actually schleping your bags of fresh veggies home from the market! Learn how to be friends with your food, buddies with your body, soul mates with yourself. So, go ahead. I give you permission to do all of the things that make you happy from pedicures to pony rides. We deserve to treat ourselves that way whether we’re “skinny” or not.
